TSE — the certified security device your till needs

In Germany, no electronic till may be used without a certified TSE. With Orderiom it is included in every till — either as a module on site, or as a Cloud TSE with no hardware of your own.

Certified by the BSI
DSFinV-K export included
Also as a Cloud TSE, no hardware

What a TSE is — and why you need one

Since the Kassensicherungsverordnung came into force, every electronic till in Germany has to work with a certified technical security device. It signs every transaction in a way that cannot be altered, so nothing can be deleted or changed afterwards.
Every Orderiom till ships with a certified TSE
Every transaction is signed and logged so it cannot be altered
DSFinV-K export for a tax audit, straight from the till
Receipt obligation met — on paper or digitally by QR code

What the tax office requires

The points a till inspection actually turns on.
REQUIREMENT 01
Certified TSE
Every electronic till must have a security device certified by the BSI.
REQUIREMENT 02
Issuing receipts
A receipt has to be available for every transaction — on paper or digitally.
REQUIREMENT 03
Records that cannot be changed
Transactions must not be deletable or editable after the fact.

TSE or Cloud TSE?

Both meet the same legal requirement. The difference is where the security device sits.
TSE on site
The security module plugs straight into the till
Works without an internet connection
Hardware can fail or go missing
Several tills means several modules
Cloud TSE
No hardware of your own, nothing that can break
Several tills and locations on the same solution
Certificate renewal happens in the background
Needs a stable internet connection
What we recommend:
One location with one till and a network that sometimes drops is fine with the local TSE. As soon as more tills or more locations come along, the Cloud TSE is the simpler choice — there is no module to manage per device.

Features

What you actually notice day to day.
Every transaction signed
Every receipt is signed when it is closed. The checksum lands on the printout without your team doing anything.
DSFinV-K-Export
You can produce the full export for a tax audit yourself, at any time — no call to support needed.
Digital receipt by QR code
The receipt obligation without the paper mountain: the guest scans and gets the receipt on their phone.
Certificate management
We keep track of certificate terms and renewals, and get in touch in good time.
If the TSE fails
If the TSE fails, the till keeps taking payments and logging them — the transaction is signed properly afterwards.
Cash book & daily close
Z-report, cash book and reporting sit in the same system as the signatures.

Common questions

Questions about the TSE

The things that almost always come up first in a consultation.
Your question not here? Talk to us →
Do I really need a TSE?
Yes, as soon as you use an electronic till. The Kassensicherungsverordnung has been binding since 2020. Taking payments without a certified TSE means that at an audit the tax office may estimate your taxable turnover itself — which usually costs far more than the TSE does.
Is the POS TSE-certified and GoBD-compliant?
Yes. Every till ships with a certified TSE, and as a Cloud TSE without hardware of your own if you prefer. The DSFinV-K export for a tax audit is included.
What is the difference between a TSE and a Cloud TSE?
The job is the same, the place differs: the classic TSE sits as a module on the till, the Cloud TSE runs in a data centre. The cloud version needs no hardware and covers several tills at once, but it does need a stable internet connection.
What happens at a till inspection?
You generate the DSFinV-K export straight from the till and hand it to the inspector. Every signed transaction in the period requested is in it. We will help you with that if you want.
Do I have to renew the TSE myself?
No. Certificates have a limited term — we keep track of them and get in touch in good time, before anything expires.
Does the till still work if the TSE fails?
Yes. The till carries on and logs the outage, exactly as the regulation requires. The affected transactions are signed properly afterwards.

Common questions

Before you ask

Yes — the Orderiom POS works with a certified TSE and is GoBD-compliant, including the export formats a tax audit asks for.

How long does setup take?

Usually a few days from the first call to going live — we do the setup for you.

Do I have to replace the till I already have?

No. You can start with the Orderiom POS, or simply add to the till you already have.

Do I pay commission on orders?

No — 0% commission to third parties, in every package, whatever the ordering channel.

What if I have several locations?

Multi-site management gives you one dashboard across every location — part of the chain package.

Can I start small and add to it later?

Yes — modules can be added one at a time, with no forced package change.
